Welcome to the website of the Franciscan Friars of the Assumption Province.

We are part of the worldwide Franciscan family. This family includes many thousands of men and women who take the vows of religious life and many more Christian faithful who belong to the Secular Franciscan Order.

The Franciscans of Assumption Province belong the Order of Friars Minor whose rule of life comes from St. Francis of Assisi and was approved by Pope Innocent III nearly 800 years ago. Our vocation is to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church. The approximately 150 Franciscan Friars who make up the Assumption Province today offer the witness of brothers living fraternity as we proclaim the love of God to the world. We hope that our website will help you to know us better.

The Franciscan Friars of the Assumption Province serve the People of God in Catholic parishes, schools, hospitals, shelters for the homeless, in the military—wherever people need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and to experience God in their lives. We serve in fifteen States and in four countries outside the U.S. Some of us are ordained—some are lay ministers—but all have the same goal: to bring Christ’s peace to the world.

Join us in making visible the presence of Christ in our world. The world needs more Franciscans. We invite young men to consider joining our fraternity by living “in obedience, without anything of their own, and in chastity.”

We also invite you to support our ministries of service to the Church—especially to God’s poor. Stand with us as we proclaim the Gospel.
